FILM PROPOSAL ON MAGHREBIAN IMMIGRATION IN BELGIUM

This film is about an uprising. Not those where grimacing faces confront the forces of order, with blows of stone. Not those that we fear, that we mate with and that we forget. Not those we see on television.
This film is an invisible and silent uprising in the land of the bison. Between a girl born in this land, and a minister. One morning in September of 1999, the minister puts his mouth against her ear. "I wonder", he murmurs, "if there is a link between ethnicity and crime." The girl climbs the wall. In the distance, a thousand furious buffaloes cross the territories of his memory.
At the bottom of the wall, a boy without feet looks at her.
Together, they decide to leave, in search of a Belgian history, that of immigration from Maghreb.
It is a multi-stage quest of a 40-year history.

Rajae Essefiani, d'origine marocaine est journaliste et Frédéric Fichefet, belge est monteur et réalisateur.
Il a réalisé plusieurs documentaires dont Al Qantara, Clejani (2005) et Les perdants n'écrivent pas l'histoire (2001).
Ce long-métrage documentaire est la prolongation d'un premier jet de 34' réalisé dans le cadre de Bruxelles 2000 qui s'interroge sur l'histoire et les conséquences de l'immigration maghrébine en Belgique.
